Walden: Best Acoustic Guitars For Your Buck

The Walden CD550 is the perfect "boutique for less" acoustic guitar.

In searching for the best acoustic guitars for the money, you may find yourself wondering where to start. Perhaps you have an idea of what your ideal acoustic guitar should look like, but have you thought about other features such as body style, tone woods, tuning machines or nut, bridge and saddle?  If not, fear not, because I have found the best acoustic guitars for your buck while keeping all of these important things in mind.

Walden has been known as a "boutique for less" brand when it comes to acoustic guitars and after getting a chance to hold and play the CD550, Walden's entry level dreadnought guitar, I have to say that there is very little that is entry level about this guitar.  Just after holding it for a few seconds you can feel that it is made with great care, from the smoothness of where the frets meet the fingerboard to the bindings that join the mahogany back and sides to the matched spruce top in a way that makes the instrument feel like it was sculpted from a single mass.

But where this acoustic guitar really shines is actually on the inside: the soundboard is reinforced by scalloped-x bracing which is designed to not only to give a firmer foundation for string tension but also excite the soundwaves as the reverberate through the body and out of the sound hole.  The neck is supported by a 2-way adjustable truss rod with additional reinforcement by a pair of glass fiber rails making this guitar a superb choice if you are frequently moving through different climates.

Fossalite increases the warmth and depth of the instrument’s harmonics and tone as well as contributing pristine highs and mids. Not only does it look and feel great, in the right hands it can really perform.  Walden guitars sport a patented Fossalite nut and saddle which is a synthetic material that emulates bone.  This allows the strings to really sing with a full-bodied tone and sustain.  No matter what kind of guitar strings you prefer, you can be sure that the Walden CD550 will sonically make the most of what style you play, be it rhythm accompaniment to your or your band's vocal performance or instrumental pieces which have you needing clear and crisp arpeggiations.
Walden also offers a cutaway electric version called the CD550CE with a B-Band T35 pickup which features a 3-band EQ and an on board tuner so no matter where you are you can plug in, tweak your sound to adapt to the room you're in and play away.

The best pricing I've been able to find is at Riverton Music located in my hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. You can find their current selection, including the CD550 and CD550CE by clicking here:  http://bit.ly/1N33eeB
